Technology Development during the 21st Century

Medieval

First of all, is the development of agricultural tools. The use of the plough that has been used since the New Stone Age has been improved greatly and using groups of oxen teams as well. It was quite hard to plough the fields during the Medieval Age due to the soil being wetter and thicker as well. This has caused an increase agricultural productivity while increasing the population of people living in these areas. Although there was a technological improvement to the plough, the farmers still have a hard time working. Besides, the innovation of the horse collars has allowed more horse pulling power. The improvement to the horseshoe has helped the horses to move over a lot of different kinds of terrains subsequently, helping the horses to move easily in the difficult soil condition.

Next, is the harnessing of time. During those times, the clock is considered quite a new invention. As the people in the society during those times needed to organize their own time efficiently, the shadow clocks or more commonly known as sundials were invented but it did not fulfil the requirement as it needed the sun's shadow to work. Due to that reason, the first mechanical clock was created in China. An interesting note to it, is that this creation were influenced by the Muslims. However, it's main purpose is not to tell time but for astronomical purposes. This was because the Muslim astronomers were employed by the Chinese Mongol rulers to develop the astronomical instruments.

On to the next topic, we have the development iron with it's uses and ore mining. During the Medieval Age, an invention called the above ground reduction furnace was created for easier creation of iron. Besides, in a different field, the spectacles were invented but could only help the far-sighted as concave lens were not yet invented.

Finally, the development in the military technologies are such as the invention of the battering ram that is used to destroy another's kingdom fortifications. This invention is still used up until now by police but in much smaller versions to break down doors. Another invention was created in case the battering ram is ineffective and that is the catapult by laying siege through hurling rocks and anything else that could be used. However, this weapon was eventually replaced by the cannon which is used both on land and sea.

Thus, that is mostly the development of technology during the Medieval Age.
